How acupuncture can help digestion

One thing that is imperative to know is that we treat your western diagnosis with Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine principles. Our practitioners will inquire about your symptoms, ask you questions and be able to interpret what is happening through a different lens. The beautiful thing is that when we honor this tried and true wisdom, you get better results.

Let's discuss a few of the ways that acupuncture can help digestion.

  1. We work on specific organ systems, depending on your diagnosis.

    1. The Stomach and Spleen are considered the center of the body and the center of digestion. They receive all the food and drink we consume and are in charge of processing and distributing nutrition.

    2. The Liver and Gall Bladder help to ensure that the digestive system is moving properly. To be more specific, they help make sure everything that comes in, moves down and out of the digestive tube efficiently.

  2. We work together on any dietary or lifestyle choices that may be contributing to your discomfort.

    1. Watch this video to learn more about one of the most common causes of digestive discomfort; dampness.

    2. Assessing your physical activity. Are you moving too much? or not enough?

    3. We take a look at your food choices and the timing of eating.

    4. We will inquire about the role stress may be playing in your life and how it may be affecting your digestion.

    5. Sleep and its contribution to the health of our digestive system.

What a session of acupuncture looks like

Each session we get caught up on the changes that are happening and anything new that may have arisen between visits. From there, your practitioner will take your pulse and give you acupuncture. Your practitioner will choose the correct constellation of points based on your individual needs.
